"Minutes" from our last meeting

Our meeting on September 22nd was a potluck luncheon at Nancy Kilburg’s home. It was great fun with lots of good eats and lively conversation. Has anyone else noticed that this very creative group also has a lot of really good cooks? Thank you, everyone, for the wonderful spread.

Our president, Beth Bosmans made a special presentation of a gift card from Border’s Books to Bob Tompkins in appreciation of all the time and energy he has contributed to our organization.

Many thanks to Nancy for sharing her home with us. Her lovely yard was the perfect spot for this pleasurable event.

Four Women Artists at Court House Gallery

The Lyon County Courthouse Gallery is proud to present the works of "Four Women Artists - Reiko Hervin, Nanette Oleson, Pamella Nesbit and Mary Kropelnicki". The exhibit opens October 9th with an opening reception being held on Saturday, October 14th from 5 to 7 pm.

Nationally and regionally exhibiting watercolor artist, Reiko Hervin from Wellington, will be showing selected recent works that are typical of her exquisite still life and natural themes. She is recently a featured artist in the Splash watercolor book series.

Working primarily in oil, Nanette Oleson of Reno will be exhibiting many of her works from her Luminous Skies: Beyond Boundaries series featuring poetic skies and landscapes. Her most recent exhibit was at Dreamers Gallery in Reno.

Having collaborated with artist Judy Chicago on The Birth Project and A Stitch in Time, textile artist and painter, Pamella Nesbit, also of Smith, brings to this exhibit her mixed medium Shields and acrylic paintings that include the artist’s dialog.

Mary Kropelnicki of Yerington will be exhibiting her impasto oil paintings that are vibrant in color that includes a broad range of subject. She will also be exhibiting a painted Carousel Horse that she collaborated on with sculptor Tim Carmen.

Plan a visit to this public gallery venue. The Courthouse Gallery is in the Lyon County Administrative Complex located at 27 South Main Street in Yerington, Nevada. The gallery is open Monday thru Friday from 9:00 to 5:00. Partial funding for this exhibit was made possible from a grant from the Nevada Arts Council, A State Agency, The National Endowment for the Arts, A Federal Agency and the Lyon County Board of Commissioners.

A few words from the President

The year is almost to the end. We've had a good year - some ups and some downs.

I think we need to hear from our members if we want to hang at WNCC. This last time was disappointing to our hanging committee - NO ONE SHOWED UP- they took their time which they could be doing other things to be there for our members. Let us know how you feel either before or at our next meeting.

Things are shaping up for our scholarship show and Carolyn and Sue are doing a super job to see that we will have a great show. Thanks!

Thanks to Nancy Kilburg who hosted our potluck luncheon. We all had a great time. I don't understand why nobody wanted to change their white elephant. Maybe they all were too good or....

Honoring Bob who was always there for us whenever we needed someone for something. He's a GREAT MAN & A CVAA SUPPORTER.

Keep creating and I can't wait to see what you've done.

          Beth
